Software Upgrades

Iridium 9555 Mobile Satellite

Software incompatibility in the Iridium 9555 Mobile Satellite handset results in an inability for customers to send SMS text messages from their service.
All customers who have the software version HT09014 or later will not need to have a software update for their handset. For all customers who have HT09013 or earlier will need to have a software patch posted out to them on disk from the Telstra Mobile Satellite team. This will correct the software and restore SMS and Iridium Direct Internet functionality. The customer will be able to perform the software patch.

Nokia E71 Update

New version of Nokia PC Suite
A new version of Nokia PC Suite has been launched that allows the Nokia E71 to be used as a USB modem. The software supplied in Telstra's Nokia E71 box is an earlier version that does not allow this functionality.
If the customer requires the USB modem functionality, the customer has TWO options:

  • Option 1: If they are connected to the internet when installing the Nokia PC Suite from the in box software, the customer will be prompted to download the latest software directly from Nokia.
  • Option 2: The customer can also go to the Nokia website to download the newest version of PC Suite.
